Sample Answer 1

I use different websites for various purposes. But, mostly, I am curious about the website Google. It is one of the most exciting and impactful search engines I have ever seen.

Google is the most popular website, and it helps reduce our thinking and mental strain. It has lots of features that make our everyday life comfortable. We can watch lots of videos, and images, read multifarious articles, and newspapers, and learn about diverse things. If one searches any information link, it gives details about various other websites related to it. The information and sources are very relevant and up to the mark. There is no copyright issue on these websites. We can find every kind of information just by searching effortlessly and making people’s lives easier. Google has lots of new features that are very interesting to learn. This website is used by people worldwide as it provides accurate data with easy readability and perfection. It fetches correct information with links and sublinks. This website is more organized with new functionality, security, and privacy. Additionally, we can store our data with complete trust in this website.

When I was in class 3, I started using Google, which helped me research miscellaneous topics not present in the book. Even now, I need Google as support at every moment in my life. It has made reference work easy for me. Moreover, this search portal is the best website for storybooks, magazines, academic books, and comics, etc.

Sample Answer 2

The technology and the advancements in digitization have surely brought plenty of revolutions. Today, you can easily find an array of websites serving varying purposes. However, if I had to name one useful site that I often visit, it would be YouTube.

With its significant establishment across the world, almost everybody is familiar with the fact that YouTube is a video-sharing website. Generally, users upload their videos on this platform and reach a wider set of audience. Right from well-established companies to newbie individuals, everybody and anybody can upload a video on this channel. Also, there are no restrictions in terms of the types of videos to be posted either. Every 24 hours, 30 million users log on to the YouTube site. Also, in a single day, people watch 1 billion hours of content each day. After its inception back in 2005, YouTube was purchased by Google in 2006 for a whopping amount of $1.50 billion.

One of the reasons behind this site is useful for everybody is because it features a huge amount of content. Whether you want answers to complex questions or learn a new skill, with YouTube, you can do wonders. Moreover, if you are a creator, you can upload videos on YouTube and earn a significant amount each month.

Sample Answer 3

The complications of languages have always enticed me. As a result, I have tried to learn as many languages as possible, though I have been mostly unsuccessful due to limited scope until recently. Seeing me so eager to learn, one of my friends suggested I look into Duolingo, a website specialized in teaching the most popular foreign languages.

Since I got to know about this website, I have spent most of my leisure on this website. Although there are set daily goals for each language, I am learning more than one language simultaneously. There are advanced courses as well as courses designed for beginners like me in more than 25 languages. Each word has recorded pronunciations and corresponding pictures, making learning very convenient. There are ten levels of tests that are also easy to understand and the goals based on various common topics are efficiently completed. I have learned quite a bit of Spanish, German, and Arabic by now.

As mentioned earlier, I am a language enthusiast, and this website has been of great help to me. Now, there is an application for the same, but I prefer to work on the website. After a long time, I have got the opportunity to tick off some of my wishes from the list due to this website. What is more encouraging is that I can learn from any place, at any time, by just signing up. Apart from that, there are paid courses as well if one is interested. There is no inconvenience of attending physical classes, fees, travel, etc.

IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer # Favorite Website

Describe a website you often browse.   You should say: what is it how long have you been using it give details about the website Why do you love the website?

Sample Answer

I have been using internet for now about 6 years, out of which I think 3 years I have used it extensively, visiting lot of websites and doing research and lots of fun work. There have been many sites which I love to visit, but I think the one that I go back to when I am not able to find anything else, is youtube.com. I believe it is one of the most amazing sites to be made in the history, because there are so many opportunities over there. You can learn lot of things from the website and then you can earn lot of money from it.

I have been using youtube.com since past four years, I believe. With so many videos about events being uploaded onto it, it becomes very exciting to use it. So, there is this video about Steve jobs and you can hear him. His Stanford speech, his interview about Macintosh and his opinion about how life is lived. It is exciting because it seems as if you are actually interacting with the other person. And then there are video lectures by some great personalities. You get to learn and the best part is that it is for free. You learn because you want to and you enjoy it. I think the freedom that youtube gives is completely exciting.

Even more, people can now upload their videos and if they are able to bring in lot of viewers, google pays them and someone who has talent, it is such a great opportunity. You get to be your own boss and be creative.

Youtube.com was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim and the domain was activated on February 14,2005. The idea behind the founders was to be able to upload videos and share it with their friends. What was thought to be just a website where people could simply share their videos, turned out to be a great startup. It was in around 2006 that google acquired the website and since then it has been merged together with lots of google products like google+.

I think what makes me and so many people fall in love with the website is surely the freedom that it gives. You get to learn things and implement them and then earn lot of money out of it.

How long have you been using Internet?

I started using internet when I stepped into the college, but I remember, it was two years from then that I actually started using internet for lot of things. So, I would just go out and listen to lot of those videos and read the Wikipedia pages. For the initial two years, I used internet only for facebook and when I had to make presentations, but later in college I came to know about the importance it plays in our lives and have been using it extensively since then.

How has internet changed your lifestyle?

I would say it has made me more enlightened. So, earlier I was limited to the resources that I had, so the teachers and the people I used to meet in daily life. But now, it is more like, the approach from just adjusting with the average has changed to going for excellent and becoming excellent. There are no boundations anymore.

What do you think could be the possible uses of internet in the future?

My personal opinion is that our lives will revolve around internet in the future and that is for sure. So, we will be able to see automatic cars that work entirely on internet. It might be possible to figure out the emotions of the other person, just by scanning their face to the scanner and internet will find out the results. So, may be people will get to know what the other person is feeling. It might even be possible that we are able to figure out what is necessary to buy in a particular month, and may be internet will help us in finding out a good budget.

Describe a Useful Website You Have Visited - IELTS Cue Card

Unlocking the mysteries of IELTS Cue Cards is a journey through the realm of language proficiency like no other. Embellished with prompts and questions, these cards act as doors to your linguistics and conversational house of horror. They are, after all, speaking challenges in an IELTS exam to which you must rise. In this paper, we explore the world of Cue Cards in depth. We examine their nuances, explore strategies for mastering them, and illuminate possible answers in an engaging and thought-provoking way to achieve your potential.

With every step of the way, from card prompts to elocution-rich responses full of personality and style, every moment serves an educational purpose to help you grow. Enlist our help, and we will provide the key to the castle, an instrumental component in leaving the exam chambers speechless and achieving your desired high score. First, let’s start by outlining what IELTS is.

What is IELTS?

IELTS , or the International English Language Testing System, is an internationally recognised standardised test to measure the English language proficiency of people who do not speak English natively. The British Council, IDP, developed IELTS: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English, testing takers’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities. The test is frequently administered for academic admission, immigration visa, and work admission in English-speaking countries. The test is available in Academic and General Training formats, catering to different purposes such as academic admission or immigration. IELTS scores are reported on a scale from 1 (Non-user) to 9 (Expert user) and are valid for two years.

What is an IELTS Cue Card?

The IELTS Cue Card is one of the speaking tests in the IELTS test where examinees are given a particular topic to speech for 1-2 minutes. The examiner provides a cue card with prompts or questions on a specific subject. The speaking time allotted to read and plan the speaking is one minute. This speaking task aims to evaluate the candidate’s speech, flow, and content. Examinees must correctly address each question and sub-question quickly and give as many details as possible, expressing themselves vividly based on the instructive point of view.

Why are IELTS Cue Cards Important?

  • Enhancing Speaking Fluency: Cue Cards provide a forum for candidates to work on their spontaneous speech skills. Thus making them fluent and coherent communicators. The time factor is another essential element in reproducing actual communication scenarios. There, immediate thinking and articulating are the keys to success.
  • Broadening Topic Familiarization: By addressing a broad spectrum of issues that can be personal or abstract, Cue Cards allow candidates to experience various content areas that college students will encounter in academic, professional, or social settings. Such conditions encourage contenders to develop into skilful communicators capable of discussing different subjects in general and specific issues.
  • Facilitating Vocabulary Expansion: On each Cue Card specifically tailored to the topic, the candidates are prompted to address the given topic using specialised vocabulary and idiomatic expressions relating to the topic. In this way, they expand their vocabulary and, more importantly, learn to choose the most suitable language for a given situation.
  • Developing Organizational Skills: Discussion of Cue Cards requires candidates to be articulate and well-organized within a limited time. This leads to the growth of the ability to organise the work, which includes thinking over the list of ideas, bulking up the main part and presenting them logically - a skill that is highly in demand while communicating academically and professionally.
  • Aligning with Assessment Criteria: The card responses are evaluated from the established criteria, which include coherence, fluency, lexical resources, pronunciation, and not forgetting intonation. Consequently, Cue Card tasks help candidates understand what is expected of them and adapt their answers to the proficiency level of the assessors, which in turn is a valuable asset on the path to getting excellent results in the IELTS speaking part.

Sample/Follow-up Questions and Their Answers

What is the significance of the ielts cue card.

In this cue card of IELTS, you are evaluated by how efficiently you use your language, maintain coherence, and hold yourself confidently within a time limit. They make sure that students' speaking skills are improved, and they have to get familiar with the topics, expand their vocabulary, develop their organisation skills and be in line with the assessment criteria.

What is the reason behind the fact that people all over the world use the Internet to communicate more and more?

The Internet has many benefits and reasons for being utilised by people for communications. Among the reasons that this invention gives us convenience in the first place is that we can communicate with each other very easily regardless of whether we are living in different places or engaged in walking, running, sleeping, or flying. Firstly, internet communication is so low cost, and since it is way cheaper than the number of advantages it carries, people from any segment of society with little or no money fear could participate in it.

What will be my organizational technique while answering to an IELTS Cue Card?

Start with the introduction, where you will present the website and then explain the content and features and how they are useful. In the end, you should provide your summary of the key points. Apply the given model answers as the design for developing your essay so that you can properly structure the content.

Is this the language I should use in my cue card in the speaking section?

It is essential to use the word with a variety of vocabulary but to make your speech clear and coherent, it is no less important. Your language should be natural and clear and ensure your words exactly express what you intend to convey. Don’t use too complex terms if they could only confuse your message, and you don’t want that to happen.

How can I elaborate my point really well in my cue card response?

Now consider extending your discussion by introducing more specifics, illustrations or stories relevant to the topic itself. This may be the feature which added in your answer and elucidated it more for the examiner. Nonetheless, be aware of the time restriction and remember that your expansion should not take away the main essence of your sentence but rather be in line with the topic of discussion.

What can I do to prepare well for the speaking test and use my time wisely?

Prudence is the key to success, so practice speaking to the cue card prompts and timing yourself to gauge how to pace your speech well. Taking in account the introduction, description, and conclusion within the given timeframe, pay enough time on it.

Tips to Answer IELTS Cue Card

  • Understand the Topic: Take a moment to realize the essential aspects of the situation you would like to cover. Make sure that the questions or the prompt is understood carefully before you write your response so that you can include all the necessary information.
  • Brainstorm Ideas: Make use of the one-minute duration for planning your topic. The way you present your thoughts and organize the structure of your response should be clear and coherent.
  • Speak Naturally: In your response, try to attain a conversational tone and keep the content clear. It is better to sound natural instead of being robotic or using a script. Convey your ideas in simple language and use suitable expressions that can be easily understood.
  • Expand on Details: Use the detailed information concerning your argument, like an example or an experience of yours, to support your positions. This makes them more “meaty” and attracts the examiner’s attention.
  • Manage Time Wisely: Remember about the time limit and speak so that you are in time. The key is to be able to say everything clearly, without rushing or going fast in order to cut any point. Practice the piece beforehand to check the tempo and way you say your sentences.
  • Monitor Pronunciation and Fluency: Be attentive to your articulation, time and the tone with which you speak. Make sure that you talk clearly and beautifully; do not make the words slurred – create the atmosphere to convey information best.
  • Stay Calm and Confident: Show the examiner that you are confident of what you are talking about during your test. Just try to stay confident and speak in a confident voice – this is the only.

IELTS Speaking Part 2: IELTS Cue Card/ Candidate Task Card.

Describe a useful website you have visited.

You should say:

  • what the website was
  • how you found the address for this website
  • what the website contained

and explain why it was useful to you.

Model Answer 1: I hardly know or meet people who don’t like food. In fact, the idea of trying different kinds of food from different cultures and countries has become so popular among some people around the world that they don’t mind spending a lot of their time and money to learn about them. In fact, I also do the same, but I do it mostly by visiting some great cooking and food-related websites. Today, I would like to talk about one such website that I visit from time to time and find really useful.

The address of this website is www.foodnetwork.com. As the name suggests, it is a food-related website, and I found about it a few years ago when I was searching for some unique food recipes online, which I could use to cook some good dishes within a short period of time.

By the way, sometimes I just get bored of eating the same kind of food, so I look for new recipes so that my mother could try them sometimes to prepare some new but delicious meals.

The website contains recipes and food ideas pretty much from all over the world. The contents on the website are so unique and appealing that it would be almost impossible for someone to leave the website without having an urge to cook them sometimes on their own.  Besides, the images and videos of different food dishes on this website are simply outstanding. In fact, just by looking at these pictures on this website or watching a video, one would automatically feel the urge to go into a kitchen even if he/she never liked cooking in the past. The website also contains all kinds of information as to what kinds of food is perfect for any possible occasions, a person could ever think of.

I find this website useful, mainly because it allows me to change my taste in foods without running to an expensive restaurant. Besides, it allows me and my family to surprise our friends and relatives by serving them some unique dishes, when they expect them in the least, which makes me so happy.

Sample Answer 2: I use the internet almost every day, and if I make a list of useful websites that I like, the list would be pretty long. For this topic, I would like to talk about www.google.com website that I find very beneficial. Google.com is the most visited website in the world as well as the best search engine we have. It helps people search for anything they want. It brings websites, videos, news, images, and information for the searched keywords. The results are relevant and one gets enough information he/she is looking for from this website which mainly fetches information from all around the internet.

I have first used this website in 2000 when I read an article in a computer magazine about this search engine. Nowadays, this website has become so popular that a 5 years kid from any part of the world knows about Google.

This website basically contains a search input box, different searching options like video search, image search, web search, advanced search options, some copyright and help links, and search buttons. Since this website brings results from the World Wide Web, after we search for something, the results are shown on this website. This has become a very popular search engine because the result it shows serves the searchers’ purpose pretty well.

For more than two decades, I have been using this website to search for the information I need. It can find search results virtually for anything someone searches. For me, this website is a great place to find information, references, academic books, story, news, websites and anything I wanted to know and find. This website is the gateway to other websites for me.

Describe Your Favourite Social Media Site.

Describe your favourite social media site.

  • What is your favourite social media site?
  • What do you use it for?
  • How long have you been using the social media site?

Social media has become the most used item on the internet nowadays especially for sending information to a large group of people at a particular time and also building relationships with friends and families who are not close enough to where you are and this has been the most important thing for me to indulge in the usage of this media. But in all, my favourite social media site has always been twitter. This is because most of the big men in the world own an account on this site and this gives me the opportunity to see what is really going on in their lives on a daily basis and it also gives me the opportunity to follow my favourite football team s and the latest information given accordingly. I have been using social media for over ten years now and I think it is a very positive introduction to our system and is helping in so many ways too.

There are a number of media sites available in the world. But out of these, Amazon is my favourite site which I mostly use for purchasing different new things. According to my, this site is very affordable as compared to other sites and there always a number of new varieties are available which are good in quality. This site is not time-consuming. For instance, If I order anything on the Amazon site, then our product comes to my home within two days, but other sites take a minimum of seven days to transfer the product. I have been using it for the last five years, and I do not acquire any problem from that product which I buy from this site. I always suggest to everyone to use the Amazon media site, which is a good and crimeless site.

Follow-ups of Describe Your Favourite Social Media Site

Question 1:- how many times a day, week, or month do you log onto this site.

Answer 1:- To be frank, I spend almost half of my day logged on to this site since there are posts from different people from different part of the globe each and every second and due to the funny posts and comments from people takes all my attention and I am a bit of being addicted to using this site.

Answer 2:- I always log onto the site after completing one month because, at the end of every month, our material has vanished. And l purchase only one month products.

Question 2:- Does the site affect you mentally?

Answer 1:- Not really. This is because I have grown to not get influenced by any outside thing or whatever someone is doing so I am always cool with whatever I am doing over there and not for once have I been tormented by any post from someone.

Answer 2:- Yes, obviously, the media site is affected me mentally because it has good quality products. These are always used in a limited amount because these products are completely pure, which are purchased by me from this site.

Question 3:- What is something you don’t like about this site?

Answer 1:- Generally, I think I have not come across anything that pisses me off from using this site but just that I have heard people talking about this site producing a lot of adverts and which causes a lot of distractions but with this, I don’t think I have come across one for once.

Answer 2:- According to my, everything is ok for the Amazon site. But one thing is that which always disturb me. This is related to the packing of the product. Packing of products is not good, and we can suffer from any crime like our product can be stolen by anyone in transferring timing.

Question 4:- Are there any perks for setting up an account?

Answer 1:- Oh no, it has always been so easy accessing an account for this site and for me I did not request any hand from someone else before creating an account on there.

Answer 2:- Yes, there is one perk which we can make our account that links to the Amazon site. So, you can purchase anything from this site through the account. In this account, you are detailed already mentioned. You can only mention the product. It makes everything so easy for us.

Question 5:- How often do you go onto the site?

Answer 1:- As I said earlier, it takes almost half of my day and this is approximately every five minutes that I am being seen online.

Answer 2:- I always go onto the site through Google pay. I have an account on Google play which links with the Amazon site.

Question 6:- Are social media sites dangerous to use?

Answer 1:- Not really but sometimes it is in the sense that people are ready and to scam you if you should give in to them and also getting your account hacked is also a posed threat to using social media sites and with this, your secrets and some confidential information could be sent online.

Answer 2:- Yes, their number of sites are that which are fake. And they cause crime in the world. To elaborate, some site is only open for getting from people account through the site because, in this, people always mention all details which link to their privacy, and this makes it so easy to steal money from thieves from their account.

Question 7:- How many people in total use the same site that you use in the world?

Answer 1:- Approximately around 150 million people.

Answer 2:- I cannot mention accurate because of there number of people are present in the world who already use the Amazon site. But roughly, I can say that about 5 to 6 lakh people use this site in the current era. The above value can be less or more.

Question 8:- Have you witnessed cyberbullying?

Answer 1:- That was just once in a while but I was able to overcome this by reporting to the helpline and the person was blocked from using the site.

Answer 2:- Yes, before joining the Amazon site, I was already witnessed cyberbullying through two or three fake sites. Cyberbullying is one type of crime which already in processing in the world, and approximately one lakh people are always witnessing this type of crime in their daily lives. So after this, I have joined Amazon.

Question 9:- Does it change your views towards anything?

Answer 1:- Oh no, it would have been so if I had not been able to get any help from the site.

Answer 2:- Yes, six months ago, firstly I was ordered one watch which had been attracting me. But after something I was changed my plan. I was ordered some special dresses which look very beautiful.

Question 10:- How can you help someone who is being cyberbullied?

Answer 1:- I would recommend you just ask help from the helpline on the particular site and they are going to help sort you out on the notice of such act. But if it happens that you don’t get help from the site, then I think you should try blocking the person up yourself.

Answer 2:- I have a number of choices. However, I can help those people who suffer from cyberbullying. Firstly, I can spread more knowledge about different sites through organising campaigns. Secondly, I can tell to people whether this site is best for you or not.

Question 11:- Which social media sites should you avoid?

Answer 1:- I really hate it when I see people doing online dating and using social media sites that promotes pornographic contents and these are the particular sites that I try to avoid all the time.

Answer 2:- according to me, every site has its own merits. It depends upon people preferences, but according to my opinion, the zoomy site is very dangerous for us because this site is completely fake and organised by the crime community.

The Best (and Worst) IELTS Websites

I started this website in 2016 because I was sick of looking for IELTS materials and finding the same problem: most IELTS websites are run by people who 1) don’t speak English very well, and 2) don’t understand IELTS. There were only a few decent websites and so I thought I would make my own, which is both useful and reliable.

In the past few years, there have been several good websites founded but hundreds of terrible ones. I feel genuinely upset when I visit these websites for two main reasons:

  • They are hurting people who really need help by providing false information.
  • Many of them also engage in illegal or unethical activities.

There is not much I can do about this, unfortunately. I try my best to make good study resources but these are often stolen by others, and many people just want to go to the websites that make appealing but totally false promises.

The purpose of this article is to offer a fair and reasonable review of IELTS websites in order that people can better understand what is trustworthy and what isn’t.

I do not want to promote my own website (although I think it’s great 😊) and my only interest in this post is helping people to avoid the worst websites and use the best ones. I will update this post frequently as I find new websites. (If you are a website owner and you want your website added, please get in touch.)

Criteria for Reviews

First of all, let me explain how I have judged these websites. I am going to review them in three areas:

  • Level of English – this means how well the website owner speaks English. Most IELTS websites are unfortunately run by people who cannot speak English well and they will just teach you pointless vocabulary and incorrect grammar.
  • IELTS Knowledge – this means how well the website owner knows the IELTS exam. There are some people who have perfect English skills but have great misunderstandings about the actual exam. For example, they do not understand the marking criteria or question types.
  • Trust – this will refer to whether the website owner has engaged in plagiarism or other forms of theft, as well as unethical practices like making false promises or deliberately misleading you.

Each section will be marked out of 10, so each website will get a total score out of 30. For the sake of convenience, I will list the websites in a handy table and then give a more in-depth review below.

IELTS Website Reviews

Here, I will review each IELTS website individually. I will try to do this fairly. If you have any questions or complaints, please contact [email protected].

IELTS Liz has been around for a long time and is considered by some to be the gold standard of IELTS websites. Her advice is excellent and she is a native speaker of English. She understands the IELTS exam and offers realistic suggestions. She offers a wide array of free resources that are highly reliable, in addition to several paid products such as videos and ebooks. The fact that many IELTS websites simply steal her materials is testament to her expertise.

IELTS Advantage

One of the biggest names in IELTS at the moment is IELTS Advantage, which is run by Chris Pell from England. Their website is pretty good although they do not have the quantity of material that most sites do. However, they more than make up for that with quality. Their courses are highly reviewed and their website and YouTube videos are really reliable. I particularly like Chris’ videos that feature mock speaking tests with IELTS students.

My IELTS Classroom

Oh how I wish this website existed back when I was an inexperienced IELTS teacher! This is my favourite IELTS website (apart from my own 😉) and when people ask me for recommendations, I always tell them to visit this site. It is run by a woman called Shelly, who is a fantastic teacher and a really knowledgeable person when it comes to IELTS. She posts very long, helpful articles about important topics and offers some of the best advice that IELTS students could get. I highly recommend you check out her videos and listen to the new podcast she has started.

IELTS with Fiona

Fiona Wattam runs a useful website that offers a range of blog posts and even courses that can help you with your IELTS preparation. She has lots of video lessons and is very good at explaining both language points and general concepts relating to IELTS. I highly recommend both her website and her social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram, where she posts daily lessons. Like the other top-rated IELTS websites, she makes no false promises and only offers honest advice.

IELTS Charlie

Another decent IELTS website. This one seems packed with good information from a qualified teacher. As a native speaker, his English is very good and his advice also seems realistic and sensible. This is a good website to go for IELTS information and preparation techniques.

IELTS Jacky

This website is really good. Jacky seems like an excellent teacher who provides reliable information about different parts of IELTS and also about learning vocabulary. I can see nothing wrong with this website. If I had to nit-pick (and I should), she uses apostrophes to pluralise, which you should never do. But this is trivial.

IELTS Focus

This website is written by a native speaker, so the English used is good… but it is not perfect. There are some minor errors, like not knowing how to use conjunctive adverbs and randomly capitalising nouns. These are just minor flaws, though, and the website seems great.

This is a very old-fashioned-looking blog that provides a wide range of quite good materials for IELTS preparation. The level of English used is sometimes sub-par, with faulty punctuation quite common, and I am a little put off by the slightly misleading language about how they can help you. Still, it is reasonably good and certainly better than the majority of IELTS sites. They really do have a lot of material, most of which is quite helpful, and they offer things like books and courses. I cannot speak for these as I have not used them.

You probably thought Magoosh was among the very best of IELTS websites and indeed I sort of assumed the same. It’s a huge company with a vast budge and they can hire real experts. Or so it seems. I recently noticed that they are giving out quite terrible IELTS advice in posts like this . Here, they’ve told people to say “There is no doubt/There is no denying that…” which is actually a really poor sentence structure to use. In fact, if you said this you would not be able to get higher than band 7 for Task Achievement. They should know better. However, overall it is a pretty decent company with some great resources.

IELTS Buddy

This is a pretty huge website with lots of resources for all parts of the IELTS test. The level of English used here is pretty good (but there are some mistakes) and the knowledge provided is always acceptable. There is, however, a lot of content there that is slightly pointless… but this doesn’t mean that it’s bad. I think mostly it has been posted for SEO purposes rather than to provide actual value. However, there’s also some good stuff there. This is a generally quite good website, but one thing that puts me off is that there is no author credited. It is hard to trust something anonymous and so focused on simply garnering views.

This is an interesting website from Taiwan. It’s pretty good but the English is slightly unnatural and not all of the advice is perfect. Worryingly, they keep talking about “the three types of task 2 question.” Actually, there are more than three… They really should know this. However, their advice seems pretty solid and I can see no major red flags here.

IELTS Compass

If I had come across this website simply by searching on Google, I would have given it a great score. It is written by an experience teacher who is also a native speaker of English. The advice seems solid and I like that he does most of his teaching over YouTube, which is a great format for handing out advice. He gets some major points deducted for spamming, though. Recently, my IELTS groups have been overwhelmed by bots promoting his website, which is a huge red flag for me. Do not trust spammers, especially when they are so shameless about it.

IELTS Jonathan

IELTS-Jonathan provides lessons for IELTS students, but these have been stolen from other teachers. He is a notorious thief and he should be avoided. His website also contains numerous mistakes and he appears to have a relatively poor knowledge of IELTS or English grammar.

ielts jonathan is a thief

IELTS Material

This is another website that is run by people who do not speak English well. It is full of the most basic errors. For one thing, they do not know how to capitalise words correctly and just pick words totally at random. If you did this in IELTS, you would score a maximum of band 5. That’s not the sort of people you want to learn from. Just look at the errors in their header:

ielts material review

Like most IELTS teachers online, they also do not understand the IELTS exam. You can see here that they have made up an IELTS cue card… but they have included 4 bullet points instead of 3!

ielts material fake cue card

The website has been listed for sale on Flippa for several years, indicating that they are less interested in helping students than making money.

IELTS Dragon

Sometimes it seems like these people can speak English very well, but other times they make really egregious errors. Also, they sometimes use fake IELTS questions that are not very similar to the real ones, suggesting that their knowledge of the exam is sub-par. As you can see, even the most important page on the site is written with poor English.

This is a pretty nice website in terms of its layout and I cannot see any stolen materials, so it has some positive attributes. They also post some mildly useful language, although I would not trust them to use it with any great accuracy.

ielts dragon bad english

IELTS Master

This person is clearly no master of IELTS. The English used is pretty bad, the knowledge of IELTS displayed is quite weak, and the only good thing that could be said is that he does not appear to have stolen anything and there aren’t too many false claims on the website. This site appears to have not been updated in many months, so perhaps he has abandoned it. All things considered, that’s probably for the best.

IELTS Ninja

This is an Indian company that has a nice-looking website with lots of courses that promise to help you get a high score. However, the language on the website is absolutely atrocious! It indicates that the people who run this company would probably struggle to score band 5. You can see on this page that they have tried to offer an essay correction yet the person who is marking it cannot even speak basic English. They don’t seem to know how to use articles and their comments indicate that they do not understand the IELTS marking rubric. They have also made very embarrassing attempts to cram their articles full of SEO terms in order to win Google rankings, yet their material offers no value whatsoever. They even suggest that they can predict IELTS essay topics, which is a major red flag.

IELTS Fever

This website is written by people whose English skills are very poor. Even the most important pages on the website are riddled with errors. Furthermore, the questions here are made up and do not even sound like real IELTS questions. Avoid this site or you will learn bad English.

Evidence of bad English:

ielts fever

Here, you can see that even on the website’s most important page, they use English that is simply atrocious. If you wrote like this in IELTS test, you would be unlikely to score more than band 6. Elsewhere, they advertise a book about IELTS writing, but the author cannot spell “IELTS” or “writing” correctly. 🙄

IELTS Band 7

The only good thing about this website is that it helps to define irony: The people running this would not come close to getting a band 7! 😂 These people mostly produce sample answers to IELTS questions. However, they cannot speak English well and do not understand the basics of IELTS, so their questions are pure gibberish. They also do not understand the basic format of IELTS questions and so there is really nothing here worth learning. Avoid them or your English will suffer!

IELTS Rewind

Bad English… no knowledge of the IELTS test… and stolen materials. This is another shameless, useless website run by bad people. Just look at this:

stolen ielts material

They are openly promoting illegal material and they display such terrible English that the website owners would surely fail to get even band 6. Avoid this website!

Another rubbish website. This one contains yet more stolen material and bad English. However, I will commend them on citing some other websites that have created the material they often “borrow.” That’s a little better than others on this list. Still, the advice and language is terrible:

my favourite website essay ielts

IELTSxpress

Yet another website made by people who can barely speak English and who provide illegal materials made by actual experts. They have stolen books from others (including me!) and illegal made them available. Shame on these despicable people. Moreover, it is absolutely astounding to me that someone would have the audacity to try and teach others about English when they cannot speak it themselves. Look at this:

bad english example

How could you expect to score more than band 6 for IELTS if you make these sorts of errors? It is clear from their sample questions, too, that they do not understand the basic details about the IELTS exam.

This is another rubbish website. The people who run it don’t even have a basic grasp of English, don’t really understand IELTS, and openly give away illegal material. Here is an amusing example of their incompetence:

my favourite website essay ielts

This website is trash and should be avoided at all costs.

Is there an award for the worst IELTS website? This is a contender. More stolen materials, bad English, and general ignorance.

IELTS Practice Online

We have another contender for worst IELTS website! These people claim that they can help you improve your IELTS writing score, but they would definitely score a maximum of 5.5 with English like this:

ielts practice online

They are also shameless thieves who steal material from real teachers. They have stolen this essay from IELTS-Simon [link now removed] without any attribution. Their website gets most of its traffic because it offers stolen materials for free. You should avoid these criminals.

Describe Your Favourite Gadget: IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer One

What is it.

Well, I am an admirer and freak of digital Gadgets. I love to gather different gadgets that come on the market. Recently, I have bought a new laptop that I will discuss today. I bought it a year ago when my old one had issues in functioning appropriately. I bought an HP laptop with the most updated technology and effective hardware. My new gadget supports most of the latest software too along with having an amazing configuration.

Moreover, my laptop has an upgraded IOS operating system along with Microsoft spheres. I found this gadget a bit expensive to purchase. Now, I can confidently say that it has proven worth the cost as it is functioning so effectively and efficiently that I work for hours now. I purchased it approximately a year ago. I had to replace my Asus laptop with this new one to perform better.

What Do You Use it For?

I use the laptop for a variety of official purposes as well as some personal works. I often use the laptop for finding information on the internet for several projects as well as to communicate with my friends. Listening to music using the laptop is one of my favourite activities. Also, I sometimes work on it to prepare some official documents and love to use it to play games on it as well.

But, I have to confess and say that all the functions of this new gadget are carried out extremely smoothly. I need not wait to execute the elements. Plus, it serves as a source of my entertainment too. My sister and I use my laptop more frequently than any other electronic device, even more than the mobile phone. For every professional and personal work, I frequently open up the laptop and use it conveniently.

How Long have You Owned It?

The laptop has been with me for more than 1 year now. Changes in technology are happening every passing day. The use of the latest software is in demand for faster performance. Everyone is busy with their work and wants great software to make their work easy.

This is the reason that everyone needs to upgrade their computers and laptops regularly to make sure that they are giving good performances. Well, for the same reason, I replaced my old laptop with this new one and found it extremely interesting and convenient. It has excellently worked for me.

And Explain Why It Is Important to You?

This gadget is extremely important to me as I already mentioned that I use this laptop for a list of reasons. The reasons include sorting and writing documents. Also, I use it to keep in contact with my friends, colleagues and family members. I like to write and my favourite gadget is used to maintain my blogs too. To listen to music, watch movies, and for many other important functions, this gadget has proved a blessing to me.

My laptop is an unavoidable gadget that I utilize regularly for different functions. I carry all of my work on the laptop. This is why it is the best companion that I have.

Describe Your Favourite Gadget: IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer Two

What is it.

Technology is growing to an extent that it has become a part of everyone’s life. It is the greatest invention of this century. Talking about my favourite gadget, I am obsessed with my DSLR camera. I bought it about two years ago when I completed my 12th. I like photography. This is the reason for my graduation in the same field.

I purchased it to record the activities and invaluable moments of my school and friends. Since then, I have never stopped using this modern gadget which is extremely wonderful when it comes to capturing the most beautiful moments of life.

My favourite gadget is the DSLR camera. I wanted to buy it because I am keenly interested in clicking photographs and capturing the great moments of animals, birds, things, and human beings. The name of this gadget is “DSLR”. Talking about the features of DSLR, it is a basic “point-and-shoot” video camera, with a size of about 108 millimetres (or 4.25 inches), and it weighs about 265 grams.

It comes in a shiny black colour. The camera that I have bought is made by Canon and is also immensely affordable. Also, compared to some other basic video cameras in its class, it is wonderful to work with.

Now, the processing of the camera is great for all its users as it offers a zoom range of 5 to 15 times. This camera also has a bigger and better lens for its price. The video resolution of my new camera is 1600 x 1180 which I like personally. I found it hugely attractive and excellent to use.

I have owned this gadget for two years. After buying my camera, initially, I didn’t find much use for it except, of course, recording the activities in my school. But,  as time passed, I became interested in using the camera for other purposes and activities. I started loving its functions.

Gradually, I started to carry it outside with me, when I used to travel to any place with friends or family. Also, I started to make videos of nature around me. I quite like wildlife photography when I learned to shoot the insects and unique birds doing their activities.

I, then, bought different lenses for the camera to capture distant and micro things. Well, factually, the more I was using it, the better I was feeling about my camera and my work. After some time, I felt bold and inspiring enough to carry my camera even to some parties, like weddings and birthdays, to capture the fun and happy moments because it started to give me happiness.

Now, I never think that it is awkward to carry my camera, rather, I carry my little camera pretty much everywhere with me like a trusted friend as it gives me strength and happiness.

And Explain Why it Is Important to You?

My DSLR camera is very important to me because it allows me to capture the favourite moments of not only my life but also the lives of other important people and living beings around me, on my own terms and conditions. I am offered to do professional photography for the studios and organizations but I would like to do it for myself right now.

Besides this, my camera also keeps me busy when I don’t feel like doing anything constructive or feel bored. It gives me true happiness from within. Furthermore, the camera allows me to look back to some of my favourite moments from the past when I feel down and depressed. It has become a true companion to me.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • In a nutshell
