Essay on my favourite season

Essay on My Favourite Season: Loving a season has no specific reason. Some might like the rainy season because it’s refreshing, while others may like the summer because it is the best time for outdoor activities. Similarly, some like the winter season so that friends and family can go for a bonfire activity. Season preference depends on one’s choice and idea of refreshments as it affects the human feel and influences behaviour.

Introduction: Well, I feel lucky to be living in this part of the country where I enjoy all the five different seasons in a year: summer, winter, autumn, spring, and the monsoon.

What kind of weather it is? First of all, generally, the weather remains scorching, and I anxiously wait for this season because the weather gets delightful and cold, and I could enjoy wearing the woolen clothes that are my favorite. Besides, it is also the festival season in my country. Perhaps most of the important festivals like Diwali, Christmas, New Year all come during this period.

Explain how this weather affects you? Because I get the Christmas holidays and this is the best time to visit the Shimla, which is hardly 200kms from my home town, and there I could enjoy the snowfall as well. Another reason I like winter is that I enjoy outdoor activities, especially sports, and enjoy my favorite food items that are only available at this time of the year.

However, people Face few troubles at this time of the year; for example, there is always a very dense fog that often becomes the reason for road accidents. Moreover, the days are a little dull and gloomy, and people lethargic and find it difficult to get out of their beds.

In India, there are five primary types of weather: Winter, Spring, Summer. Monsoon and Autumn. These all have their significance. Just because of these climate conditions, India can produce different crops and is one of the world’s leading agriculture producers.

However, if I talk about my choice of weather, then it is winter. This season starts in December in my region and lasts till January. At this time, the climatic conditions become cool, ranging from about 2*- 20’celsius.

What you usually do during this weather? and explain why you like this type of weather ?

My friend hates rainy days because he likes to play cricket and he can’t do that because of the rain.

5. Do people wear different clothes in different types of weather (or, different seasons)? ( Same as 2)

6. Does the weather have an effect on the economy? Yes, weather affects the economy. Moreover, some fruits and crops do not require much rain, but due to much rain, crops spoil in the rainy season. OR Yes, the weather affects our economy. For example, due to milder winters, a lot of people from cold northern countries visit us during that time. Thus it promotes tourism. Also, certain weather like hot sunny days boosts the earning of local ice cream vendors. Similarly, winters boost the jackets and sweaters industry.

So, let’s begin.

Table of Contents

Essay on My Favourite Season Winter

Winter is the best of all seasons and I like this season the most. December, January and February are the three winter months. The weather at this time is very pleasant. In this season we can work hard but do not get tired. We put on warm clothes and enjoy the bright sunshine. The nights are very cold. The night in a warm bed under a quilt is very comfortable.

Paddy is harvested in this season. Colourful seasonal flowers grow in gardens. Fish, vegetables and fruits are also available in plenty in this season. They are very cheap also. This is the most suitable time for holding picnics in the open air. We can go out and hold excursions in winter.

Various types of fairs are held and festivals like Saraswati Puja, Christmas, and New Year’s Day are celebrated in this season. While we enjoy the cool comfort of the winter, the poor people suffer a lot during these months. They do not have warm clothes to protect them from cold. Overall I love this season very much.

My Favourite Season Summer Essay

Of all the six seasons, my favourite season is summer. It is the hottest season of the year. The summer season starts in March and ends in June. In this season the sun shines brightly. The best part of this season is summer vacation. This is a great relief from a hectic schedule, home works, and exam pressure. I enjoy the vacation by going to a beach or a hill station with friends and families. In summer I like to have cold drinks, lassi, ice cream, and coconut water.

We get many fruits in this season like mango, watermelon, litchi, jackfruit, pineapple etc. Many festivals such as charak puja, Rama Navami, Baisakhi, Rabindra Jayanti, etc. are celebrated in this season. There are varieties of fruits and vegetables available during this season. Many beautiful flowers like Lilly, Marigold, Roses, Dahlia, and Sunflower bloom in this season. Summer is just a wonderful season with so much fun and enjoyment.

My Favourite season Rainy Season

The season I like most is the Rainy season or monsoon. In India, this season begins in mid-June and ends in early September. Rainy season comes after the scorching heat of summer season and gives us relief. Clouds float here and there in the sky. Lightning and thunder occur frequently. People can be seen with umbrellas and raincoats. Dry rivers and lakes become full.

Farmers plough their fields. Children become very happy. They make paper boats and dance in the rain. A variety of fruits, vegetables, and crops grow in this season. Beautiful flowers blossom in this time. Beautiful rainbows can be seen in the sky.  This season brings a lot of festivals like Raksha Bandhan, 15th August, Teej, Janmashtami, etc. We can enjoy various types of dishes in the rain.

But sometimes heavy rainfall brings the flood. Flood causes many to lose their lives, houses, and livelihood. On the other hand, if there is no rainfall for a long time, drought can occur. This causes extensive damage to crops. So, the Rainy season is an important season for us.

The natural beauty of the season is greatly appealing to me.

My Favourite Season Autumn Essay

During the rainy season, the sky remains overcast with clouds. Rains fall continually. But, with autumn, the clouds are no more. A deep blue sky spreads, like a deep blue sea. The white patches of clouds float like little fairy boats.

The day looks golden with the sun shining. The night has a silvery moon, with its silvery luster. The millions of stars, too, sparkle. Now and then, rain begins to fall thick and fast. But then suddenly the rain stops and, again, a deep blue sky smiles. In autumn, the rivers are full to the brim. The fields are all green and golden with crops. Men and women are busy among them, reaping the harvest. Nature and man seem to unite in one mood of peaceful gladness. Autumn is my favourite season.

Short Essay On My Favourite Season

Of all the seasons, my favorite is summer. There are many reasons why I love summer and why it is my favorite season. This essay will explore some of the reasons why summer is my favorite season.

One of the main reasons why I love summer is the warm weather. After a long and cold winter, nothing feels better than soaking up the sun and feeling the warmth on your skin. The warm weather allows me to be outside, enjoying all the outdoor activities that summer has to offer. Whether it’s going for a swim, playing sports, or just relaxing on the beach, summer is the perfect time to be outside.

Another reason why I love summer is the long days. During the summer, the days are longer and the nights are shorter, which means there is more time to spend outside and to enjoy all the outdoor activities. This is especially great for kids, as they can play outside for longer periods of time, exploring and discovering all that summer has to offer.

Summer is also a time for vacations and traveling. It is a time to take a break from the daily routine and to explore new places, meet new people, and try new things. Whether it’s a trip to the beach, a camping trip, or a road trip, summer is the perfect time to escape the daily grind and enjoy some much-needed time off.

Finally, summer is also a time for festivals and fairs. From county fairs to music festivals, summer is the time to get out and enjoy all the festivities. Whether you’re into food, music, or just having fun, there is something for everyone during the summer.

In conclusion, summer is my favorite season for many reasons. From the warm weather to the long days, the vacations to the festivals, summer is a time for fun, relaxation, and adventure. Long Essay On My Favourite Season

As the seasons come and go, it’s hard not to have a favorite. Whether it’s the warm summer months or the crisp chill of winter, each season brings something special with it. But for me, there is one season in particular that stands out above the rest: autumn. From the changing colors of nature to the feeling of cozy warmth from a cup of hot chocolate, this article will explore why autumn is my favorite season.

Introduction

My favourite season is spring. I love the warmer weather and the longer days. This is the time of year when the natural world comes alive after a long winter. The trees and flowers start to bloom, and the birds start to sing. There is something special about this time of year that just makes me feel good.

I also enjoy the extra daylight in springtime. I can go for a walk after work or take my dog for a run in the park without worrying about it getting dark. And, of course, there are all the public holidays in spring like Easter and Anzac Day.

So, what’s not to love about spring? For me, it’s simply the best time of year.

Definition of a Season

The four seasons are winter, spring, summer, and fall. Winter is the coldest season of the year, while summer is the warmest. Spring and fall are considered to be transition seasons. Each season has its own characteristics that make it unique.

Winter is typically associated with snow and ice. The days are shorter and the nights are longer. The weather is usually colder and there is often a chill in the air. Spring is a time of new beginnings. The days become warmer and the flowers start to bloom. The trees begin to turn green as the leaves start to grow back. Summer is the hottest season of the year. The days are long and the nights are short. The weather is usually very hot and humid. Fall is a time of change. The leaves on the trees begin to change color and eventually fall off. The days become shorter and the nights become longer.

Reasons why Summer is My Favourite Season

Summer is my favourite season because the weather is perfect for outdoor activities, the days are longer so you can enjoy more time outside, and there are always fun events happening.

I love spending time outdoors in the summertime, whether I’m going for a hike or just relaxing in my backyard. The warm weather is perfect for being active, and I always feel so refreshed after spending time in the sunshine. There are also so many fun events that happen in the summer, like music festivals and farmers markets. I always feel like there’s something exciting to do during summer months.

Overall, I just love everything about summertime! It’s definitely my favourite season of the year.

– Weather and Climate

There are mainly three seasons in India. Winter, summer and the monsoon. I like all the three seasons but I love summer the most. It is my favourite season.

The weather during the summer months is very hot and dry. The sun shines brightly for most of the day and there is very little rainfall. However, despite the heat, I enjoy spending time outdoors in the summer months. There are a number of reasons why summer is my favourite season.

Firstly, I love the long sunny days. I can spend hours outside in the sun without feeling tired or bored. Secondly, I love eating ice cream and other cold drinks to cool down in the heat. Thirdly, I get to go on holidays with my family during the summer break. We usually travel to a hill station or go camping in the mountains. Lastly, I enjoy playing sports such as cricket and tennis in the summer months.

So these are a few reasons why summer is my favourite season. What about you? What is your favourite season?

– Outdoor Activities

Outdoor activities are so much fun in the springtime! The weather is warm but not too hot, and there’s a refreshing breeze that makes everything feel new again. Here are some of our favorite things to do outdoors in the spring:

• Go on a nature walk – Spring is a great time to get outside and appreciate all the natural beauty around us. Take a leisurely stroll through your neighborhood or a nearby park, and take in all the sights and sounds of nature coming back to life.

• Have a picnic – There’s nothing quite like enjoying a meal outdoors on a beautiful spring day. Spread out a blanket in your backyard or at your local park, and enjoy some quality time with family or friends while you feast on delicious food and drink.

• Plant something – Whether you have a green thumb or not, planting something in the springtime is always satisfying. If you’re not into gardening, try planting some flowers in pots on your porch or balcony. Or, plant some veggies in a small plot of land if you’re feeling ambitious!

• Go for a bike ride – Exploring your town or city by bike is such a great way to get some exercise while also taking in all the sights. Spring is the perfect time to dust off your bicycle and hit the road!

– Festivities and Celebrations

When it comes to festive seasons and celebrations, there is no better time than spring. This is the season when nature comes alive after a long winter sleep, and people can finally enjoy some warmer weather. There are many different festivals and celebrations that take place during spring, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Some of the most popular spring festivals include Easter, which is celebrated by Christians all over the world, and Passover, which is celebrated by Jewish people. Both of these holidays have religious significance, but they are also enjoyed by many people who do not follow any particular faith. Other popular spring festivals include May Day and Beltane.

May Day is a traditional festival that celebrates the start of summer. It is often observed with maypole dancing and other fun activities. Beltane is another ancient festival that was originally celebrated by pagans. It marks the beginning of summer and the end of winter, and it is usually celebrated with bonfires and other festivities.

Whether you are looking for religious or secular celebrations, there is sure to be something going on during springtime that you will enjoy. So get out there and celebrate the arrival of warmer weather!

In conclusion, my favourite season is winter. There are so many things to love about the cold, crisp air and snow-covered landscapes that make it a special time of year. From skiing down a mountain to sipping hot cocoa by the fire, winter activities bring me joy and provide me with memories I will never forget. While other seasons have their own advantages, nothing beats the feeling of Winter for me!

My favourite season of the year is summer. It begins in April and ends in June. During the summer season, days are long and nights are short. The skies are clear and the sun is bright. We get month-long summer vacation and can stay at home with our parents and family without having to worry about school. We usually go to visit our grandparents in the village during the summer season.

In the village, I get the opportunity to play with the neighbourhood kids in mango and guava orchards that surround my grandparents’ place. They teach me new games and I always have a great time with them. Summer is also the season of mangoes. We get to eat so many varieties of juicy, delicious mangoes.

We wear a lot of warm clothes and eat hot foods to keep us warm. Our metabolism increases during the winter season and thus, we can eat a lot of delicious food. Hot drinks like tea, coffee and hot chocolate are also welcomed.

During the winter season, we usually go on a week-long vacation to hill stations to enjoy the snow. I make snowmen with my parents and siblings and go ice staking as well. There, at night, we create small bonfires to warm ourselves and chit-chat with each other. Winter is also the season of festivities as we celebrate Diwali, Christmas and New Year in winter.

My mother always bakes cakes for us on Christmas and they are warm and delicious. When I don’t have school, I like staying in bed covered in a thick quilt and reading my favourite storybooks. I also go out to play cricket and badminton with my friends every afternoon as it warms my body and keeps me active. Due to the cold weather, we don’t sweat much and can play for a long time. Because of all these reasons, I like the winter season.

Out of the four predominant seasons, my favourite is the monsoon or the rainy season. It starts to rain heavily all over the country by July. As it rains, the water washes away all the dust from plants and trees, making them look green and beautiful again. As the rain hits the dried-up ground, the smell of wet earth fills the atmosphere and makes our hearts dance.

New seedlings begin to sprout and grasses and plants begin to grow all around us. Our surroundings are covered in green and look very mesmerising. As India is an agricultural country, the rainy season is very important for us. Rains irrigate fields and help crops grow. Without rain, most of our major crops will fail, causing loss of business and even starvation. As my grandparents and uncles are farmers, I have experienced the joy that the rainy season brings to farmers very closely.

I also like the rainy season because when it rains heavily, I do not need to go to school. Sometimes, even my parents take leave and then our whole family gets to enjoy the day together. My mother makes delicious fritters with tea which we enjoy while playing board games like ludo and carrom. My father is very fond of flowering plants and we have a lot of plants in our garden. During the rainy season, our garden looks majestic with hundreds of blooming flowers in many different colours.

My friends often come over to my house and we enjoy playing in the garden when the rain stops. We make paper boats and put them in water puddles. Sometimes, we also compete to see whose boat would go farther. Sometimes our parents allow us to go outside when it is raining and then, we enjoy jumping in puddles, getting drenched and playing in rain. It is very fun to play in the rain. After that, my mother makes hot soup for us to warm us up.

When it rains at night and electricity is cut, we get to enjoy our food in candlelight. After dinner, we go straight to bed and tell each other ghost stories. I and my siblings always try to scare each other. When it rains for days, I like to sit by the window and read my favourite books while watching the rain. The rainy season is very special for me and when it ends in September, I wish for it to come quickly next year.

Essay on My Favourite Season

Students are often asked to write an essay on My Favourite Season in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on My Favourite Season

Introduction.

My favourite season is spring. It is the season that follows winter and precedes summer.

The Beauty of Spring

Spring is a season of rebirth. Trees regain their green leaves, flowers bloom, and animals come out of hibernation. The world seems to come alive with vibrant colours.

Enjoying the Outdoors

Spring is the perfect time for outdoor activities. The weather is neither too hot nor too cold. I love to play in parks, enjoy picnics, and take long walks during spring.

In conclusion, spring is my favourite season because of its beauty and the opportunities it provides to enjoy the outdoors.

250 Words Essay on My Favourite Season

Every season brings its own unique charm, but the one I hold dearest to my heart is autumn. Often overshadowed by the vibrant summer or the cozy winter, autumn, for me, is a sublime blend of the two, offering a warm, tranquil ambiance that resonates with my soul.

The Aesthetic Appeal

Autumn is an artist’s dream, a season that transforms the world into a living canvas. The leaves morph from monotonous green to a spectrum of reds, oranges, and yellows, painting a breathtaking panorama that no other season can replicate. The soft rustling of the leaves underfoot and the crisp air tinged with the scent of earth and rain, create a sensory symphony that is both soothing and invigorating.

Symbolism of Autumn

Autumn is not just a visual delight; it is a season rich in symbolism. It represents change and transformation, reminding us of the cyclical nature of life. As the leaves fall, they symbolize the need to shed the old to make way for the new, a lesson that resonates deeply in our personal and academic lives.

Autumn Activities

Autumn also brings with it a plethora of activities. From apple picking to pumpkin carving, from hiking through the autumn foliage to cozy evenings by the fire, the season is a treasure trove of experiences that are both simple and profound.

In conclusion, autumn is my favorite season, not just for its aesthetic appeal, but also for its symbolism and the unique experiences it offers. It is a season that inspires, rejuvenates, and evokes a sense of serenity and introspection, making it a truly special time of the year.

500 Words Essay on My Favourite Season

Introduction: the charm of seasons, autumn: a symphony of colours.

Autumn is often associated with a rich palette of colours. The leaves change from a monotonous green to a vibrant array of yellows, oranges, and reds. This transformation is not just a visual spectacle but a metaphor for life itself. It signifies the importance of change, of letting go, and of rejuvenation. The trees shed their leaves, preparing for a new cycle of life, much like how we must shed old habits and thoughts to make way for new perspectives.

The Weather: A Mellow Respite

The weather during autumn is another aspect that makes it my favourite season. The scorching heat of the summer gives way to a mellow coolness, while the biting cold of winter is still a distant thought. The days are warm, and the nights are cool, providing a comfortable balance. This weather is symbolic of a calm equilibrium, a lesson about the importance of balance in life.

Autumn: A Season of Harvest

Autumn nights: a celestial spectacle.

The clear autumn nights provide a celestial spectacle, with the stars shining brightly against the dark sky. This clarity and brightness serve as a metaphor for hope and aspiration. Even in the darkness, there is a light guiding us, much like the stars guide us through the dark autumn nights.

Conclusion: Autumn, A Season of Life’s Lessons

In conclusion, autumn, for me, is more than just a season. It is a teacher imparting life’s lessons through its changing colours, mellow weather, abundant harvest, and clear nights. It is a season of introspection, of understanding the importance of change, balance, patience, and hope. It is a season that reminds us of the cyclical nature of life, encouraging us to embrace change and look forward to rejuvenation. This profound connection with autumn makes it my favourite season.

Shaili Contractor

Key Points to Remember When Writing an Essay on ‘My Favourite Season’ for Primary Classes

10 lines on ‘my favourite season is summer’ in english, short essay on ‘my favourite season is winter’ in english, long essay on ‘my favourite season is monsoon’, what will your child learn from the essay on ‘my favourite season’.

India has four main seasons. Children enjoy different aspects of each season as they explore the little world around them. Everyone has a favourite season for multiple reasons. If you ask your little one what their favourite season is, they will share their thoughts with you excitedly, with reasons just as adorable as they are. Isn’t a child’s perspective of the world just wonderful! Kids grow up observing nature and their surroundings. Schools encourage them to give words to their observations by writing essays. ‘My Favourite Season’ is a common essay topic where children can share their knowledge along with their own experiences to state reasons for which season they like the most. But writing an essay can be easier said than done for some kids. If your child of class 1, 2 or 3 finds it difficult to write this composition, here are some tips that will help them write a beautiful essay on their favourite season and impress everyone!

Before you start writing a paragraph on your favourite season, think about what you want to express the most in the essay. Here are some tips:

  • Short one-line essays on seasons can focus on simple facts about the season, like the weather.
  • Express your thoughts and how the seasons make you feel, and tie it to why it is your favourite.
  • When writing longer essays about seasons, try to gather some general knowledge and facts.
  • Weave these facts with your reasons for it being the best season.
  • Touch briefly upon basic concepts and write them articulately to form a long essay.

Summer is undoubtedly a fun time for children as they get a long vacation and holiday from school. Summer, therefore is a favourite season for many children. It is quite an easy topic and a lot of fun to write, and children can use plenty of imagination and write from their knowledge and experience. Here are a few lines about the summer season, which will make essay writing easy for children of classes 1 and 2:

  • Summer is my favourite season as it is time for long holidays from school.
  • We can stay at home all day and play with friends and cousins.
  • Summer is also a hot season, but I like it because it is bright and beautiful all around.
  • I enjoy having cool drinks and eating ice creams during the hot summer days.
  • Summers are also the season when we get mangoes. They are my favourite fruit!
  • I always go for a trip during summer with my family to the coastal cities.
  • After the trip, I join summer camps to learn art and craft and make new friends.
  • My mom takes me to swimming classes every evening during summer.
  • I enjoy swimming and all the fun activities I do during summer.
  • Every day during summer is a fun day!

Winter season is the time when children enjoy the cool weather. Moreover, winters are also a festive time when children enjoy receiving gifts and having a good time with family. Many children have winter as their favourite season. When writing an essay about winter as their favourite season, students need to write some facts and weave them into a good story. Here is an example of an essay on ‘My Favourite Season is Winter’:

Every year we go through a cycle of different seasons. I like all the seasons, but my favourite is winter. Winter in India starts around November and ends by the last week of February. The coldest months are December and January. I still like winter because the skies are clear and beautiful every day during this season. I especially like standing in the sunlight every morning and enjoying the warmth while the weather is still cold. It is fun to see the water vapour from our breath when we exhale or speak on cold winter mornings.

Since I live in a relatively warmer part of the country, winters here are mild and enjoyable. Some of my friends who come from the North of the country tell me that it is very chilly and snowy during the winter season. Some day, I want to take a trip to the mountains during winter to experience the cold and make a snowman. Winter is also my favourite season because it is time for Christmas, when I enjoy delicious treats at home and get many presents. Winter ends with spring which is my second favourite season.

Monsoons are a fun time when children enjoy playing in the rain, floating paper boats in rainwater, and enjoy the fresh breezy weather of the season. It is no wonder that monsoons are a favourite season for many children. Let us guide them to write a long essay about their favourite season. They can start with a plan about what to include in the essay. Once they have their thoughts and ideas ready, they can decide how to start the narrative in an engaging way. Here is an example of how to write an essay on monsoons:

The rainy season is my favourite season of all the four seasons we experience here in India. It starts during the first week of June and extends till the last week of October. I love this season because it begins right after the hot summers, and I think it is a much-needed relief from the scorching heat we experience for three months. The rainy season is also called the monsoon.

Apart from the heat relief, the onset of monsoon is very important for the rainforests in the Western Ghats. It is also essential for farmers inland, who wait for the rainwater throughout the year. When our schools open after the summer vacation, we go back and sit comfortably in the classroom in the pleasantly cool weather of the rainy season. Some of my friends think it becomes dull after the bright sunshine of the summers, but I feel it is the best season as we see rain and sunshine together. Monsoon evenings are especially beautiful as we can see the sun through the rain clouds passing by. We may also get to see a rainbow in the sky if we are lucky.

The rainy season is also very important for our country as it is the most essential source of fresh water. The continuous period of rains fills up the lakes and rivers of the country and recharges the groundwater. Farmers plant major crops such as rice during the monsoon. We also store water in the reservoirs for use until the next monsoon. The greenery that follows the rainy season is my favourite aspect of the season. All the plants and flowers in the city bloom during the monsoon. The dry patches of land become full of greenery that is very pleasant to the eyes.

My Favorite Season is an interesting topic for children as they get to explore their ideas and imagination. Your child will think about the different seasons and learn more about them. It will build their knowledge about the seasons and also help them articulate why they like one particular season the best. By writing about the seasons, they will also understand the delicate balance of the ecosystem and learn the importance of maintaining it. Writing about their favourite season can be a little tricky for students in the lower grades, but it will teach them how to gather facts, make observations, draw from their own experiences and write creatively.

  • Winter is my favourite season of the year.
  • It is very cold during winter.
  • Winter season starts in the month of November and ends in February.
  • December and January are the coldest months of the season.
  • Some places have heavy snowfall and hail storms in winter.
  • People wear warm clothes like jackets, sweaters and coats. Some also burn wood to get some warmth.
  • Hot drinks and eatables are preferred by people to keep themselves warm.
  • We get a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables during this season.
  • I like drinking hot milk with Bournvita in the winter season.
  • During winter, I love to cover myself with a quilt and read books when at home.

Above are 10 lines on my favourite season, winter. Seasons affect our moods to a great extent. Too much rainfall might make us feel irritated, while good weather naturally uplifts our state of mind.

Winters are often loved by people because of many reasons. For instance, unlike summers, winters do not bother us with a lot of sweat secretion. Winter does not leave roads full of mud and water, unlike the rainy season. Although we might have a favourite season, we must keep in mind that each season has its own importance and merits.

Essence of Winter

During winters, schools usually take a break and close down. The days are shorter and the nights get longer. The chilly mornings give you a different sense altogether. Hot drinks like coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are enjoyed more during winters. The sun rises quite late and sometimes it does not.

Even when it does, it doesn’t get a bit hot. People long for a little sunshine as the cold weather sends chills down the spine. You see people on the roads burning woods and paper to get a little warmth. However, not many people prefer going out in winters. They like sitting by the fireplace or heater all day.

In the hilly areas, people experience snow during winters. They have to shovel it out of the way to make way for walking. The essence of winters is enhanced by Christmas as well. It sets the holiday mood for people and is admired all over the world.

But, there is also a downside of this season. The farmers, homeless people, and animals are most affected by this season. There is hardly any business in this season for farmers. Hundreds of homeless people die due to the harsh winters.

As the animals do not have proper shelter, they too lose their lives. In addition, many flights are also canceled during this season. Nonetheless, this does not make winter any less important. It is quite essential to maintain balance in the weather of our country.

Why I Love Winter?

I personally love winters. This season brings a lot of healthy fruits and vegetables. People get the chance to eat fresh grapes, apples, carrots, cauliflower, guava and more. Furthermore, so many beautiful flowers bloom during this season. These flowers include roses, dahlias and more. This makes winter even more beautiful than it already is.

Other than that, no lizards are to be found as they go in hibernation. This makes me very happy and lets me live fearlessly. Most importantly, winter mornings are the best part of this season for me. I like getting up early in winters and witnessing the morning dew on flowers. There is a different vibe altogether that comes with winters.

Also, our school organizes bonfire which is one of the most awaited events of the year.

In short, winter is as important as any other season. Sure, it may have its negative sides and positive sides, but that happens with every season. Winters helps you enjoy long morning walks and fresh air.

My Favourite Season Summer Essay

We appreciate and savour many things during the summer. We like extended vacation time in the summer. We enjoy our time with our family and friends during the summer holidays. Here are a few sample essays on the topic ‘My Favourite Season Summer’.

100 Words Essay On My Favourite Season Summer

Summer is the hottest time of the year but it’s also one of my favourite seasons. Beginning of the summer ignites a sense of hope and opportunity for me and makes me feel like I can achieve all my goals. The days are longer, and the nights are shorter throughout the summer and gives you all the more time to work and play. The sun shines brightly, and the sky becomes clearer.

My Favourite Season Summer Essay

Fruits and vegetables come in a variety during the summer, I especially look forward to mangoes and lychees. Farmers also prepare their fields for agriculture during the summer months for different vegetables and fruits.

200 Words Essay On My Favourite Season Summer

India has a wide range of climatic conditions. The locals take pleasure in the qualities of the many seasons. Every season has its unique qualities. But summer is my favourite season among the other seasons and I eagerly anticipate its arrival. Typically, the summer season begins in April and lasts through June. Although summer is the hottest season, I adore it very much. We have long summer vacations throughout the season and many festive holidays, which is my favourite part about the summers.

Long Summer Vacation | We have a two-month summer break from school during summers and that is why I adore this season so much. During the summer break, we are free from the school's everyday activities and work. By letting go of the pressure of regular homework and studies, we can eat, sleep, and play with friends.

Fun Activities During The Evening | Summer is a great season to train for a variety of sports and competitions. Summertime brings an increase in outdoor activities. I'm always eager to play different sports and games in the evening, and I end up spending the majority of my time with my friends. I make it a point of taking part in different sports, clubs and hobbies including swimming and dancing and horse riding. I love the summertime.

500 Words Essay On My Favourite Season Summer

Summer is my favourite season. Everyone, including me, has a favourite time of year. Everyone has a break from school during summers, so we enjoy the long holidays. Another factor that makes summer my favourite season is that I get to taste cold beverages and delicious ice creams. During this season, we have access to a vast range of food items. We also have access to great mangoes during the summer. Mangoes are my favourite fruit.

Thus summers generally make me happier. We appreciate and savour many things during the summer. I enjoy my time with my family and friends during the summer holidays. We even take family vacations when we are all free and wish to escape the heat. Even if it's just a short trip, I look forward to them every year because I get to bond with my family members. I also love to participate in various summertime activities like summer camps, cycling, swimming, and more. Summers have always been my favourite season since they are so thrilling and full of possibilities.

The Specialty Of Summer Season

  • The days are long, and the nights are short throughout the summer. The days are bright and sunny. In the summer, we can completely unwind in the afternoon.

During the summer, the water parks are constantly crowded with visitors who want to cool off and have fun. In the summer, I enjoy swimming in the pools because it makes me feel liberated. Moreover, I get to consume various different cuisines during the summer.

Fresh cucumbers, enormous watermelons, delicious oranges, sweet guavas, nourishing muskmelons, and other fruits are available in the summer season.

Summer clothes that are so colourful and floral are undoubtedly another summertime specialty. To fully enjoy the summer, people like to dress in shorts, dresses, sleeveless shirts, and other items.

The summer months are crowded with people visiting the hill stations to escape the heat.

I, therefore, appreciate summer even more as a result of all these specialties. My relatives have a small farm within a few hours drive where we go every summer to spend time and taste the delicious fruits. They always serve the best mango juice, and I was amazed at how fresh the juice was and how it tasted so good. This also makes the summer season special. During summer vacation, I usually spend time with my family, and we all go to the garden and parks on the weekend for a picnic and take fresh air under trees.

But summer time is also quite dangerous since hot air blows during the day, which can also make us ill. People also became dehydrated. People can also suffer from burns to the skin. In the summer, all of the water in the reservoirs evaporates resulting in scarcity in some areas.

Nonetheless, summer is my favourite season because everything is so fantastic and vibrant. Even the fruits and vegetables we receive are so vibrantly coloured which is a sight to behold. Children who attend school appreciate the summer more since it gives them more time to play and unwind. The summers are pleasant, warm, and sunny.

IELTS Topics: Weather

Posted by David S. Wills | Oct 10, 2019 | IELTS Tips | 0

IELTS Topics: Weather

There are certain topics in the IELTS exam which can be considered quite common. They are not guaranteed to appear in your next exam, but they are common enough that you really should spend some time studying them. One of these super common IELTS topics is weather .

I’m sure that when you first began learning English, you learned to talk about the weather. In my first teaching job, I taught this topic to kindergarten students. Even those cute little 3-year-olds could say, “It’s a sunny day!” or “It is raining.” Of course, for IELTS you need to be able to produce more advanced language than that!

Today, I want to tell you all about weather as a topic for your IELTS test. I’ll explain a little about how it might appear in the exam, and also give you some useful language for describing it.

IELTS Speaking Questions about Weather

weather forecast for ielts

The IELTS speaking test is by far the most likely part of the exam to contain questions about weather. This topic could appear in any of the three parts of the speaking test, but it is most likely to occur in part one as the topic is rather shallow. In part one, you aren’t expected to say very much, and so this is the best place for simple questions about things like weather. Here are ten example questions about weather from IELTS speaking part 1:

  • What’s the weather like where you live?
  • Does the weather affect your mood?
  • Do you like sunny days?
  • What type of weather do you like best?
  • Does the weather ever affect what you do?
  • Does it bother you much when it rains?
  • What do you like to do on sunny days?
  • Does it rain a lot in your hometown?
  • Which months have the best weather in your country?
  • Does rain ever affect transportation in your hometown?

All of those questions are quite simple, factual matters. There is no real complexity to them because they would be asked in part one and you will only be expected to give a basic answer. For example, let’s look at two of the questions from above:

  • It rains a lot in my hometown, even in the summer. Sometimes it’s sunny but it’s never really very warm.
  • I really like warm, sunny days the best. When the weather is like that, you can go out and do interesting things rather than being stuck indoors.

You can see that in those answers, I have given only two sentences as a reply. You might think that this is not enough, but actually it is perfectly fine. Notice that I also didn’t use any complex vocabulary. This is also acceptable because for part one the questions really will be simple. You might have a chance to show off more in part three, but don’t worry about it. Sometimes it’s best to use simple language with a high degree of accuracy.

Part two is a little harder to predict, and it’s less likely that you will get a weather question here, but it could still happen. Two cue cards that you might possibly encounter will ask you to do the following:

  • Describe your favourite kind of weather.
  • Describe a time when you experienced extreme weather conditions.

In each case, you would need to follow the cue card and give an appropriate response. Here is a video about describing a season, which has some overlap with the topic of weather.

Part three might have questions about weather as well, but remember that here they will be more complex and abstract. In this section, questions often get into morality, gender, age, and other difficult issues. There isn’t really too much that could be said about weather here, but you might find something like the following:

  • Do you think that weather affects people’s behaviour?

Notice that this is similar to a question from part one, but now we are talking about people in general , rather than your personal opinion. This is much harder to do, and of course here you are expected to speak for longer. You might give an answer like this:

  • I think that weather definitely affects people’s behaviour. You just have to go outside on a sunny day to see how friendly people are compared to when it’s raining. Also, when the weather is really bad you see people looking depressed and often acting with impatience towards others. People do things like fight over taxis or push rudely past each other when it’s rainy and cold. So, yeah, it definitely has an impact.

This answer is much longer than my first ones, and you can see how each sentence sort of adds a little more to the idea. There is also a basic introduction and conclusion as I tell my listener what I think and then summarize what I said. But is there much difficult weather vocabulary? Not really. There isn’t too much that you can really say in a question like this, as it relates more to a person’s mood than actual weather.

Weather for IELTS Writing

It is less common that you will encounter the topic of weather for IELTS writing, but it could still happen. For one example, you may see weather appear in task 1 as you have to describe patterns of rainfall or hours of sunshine. However, this really wouldn’t require much knowledge of the weather, as you are just expected to describe what you see.

For task 2, there is definitely more scope but the topic of weather is a bit limited. Instead, you would probably see it arise within the greater topic of environment . For example, look at the following question and sample answer. I will highlight some useful vocabulary that may be helpful for you in giving more complex descriptions of weather and the related issue of global warming.

IELTS Writing Task 2 Question: Weather

Global warming is one of the biggest threats to our environment. What causes global warming? What solutions are there to this problem?

Sample Answer

It is clear that the earth’s climate is changing due to human activity. The weather is growing increasingly erratic , and temperatures are soaring in many places. This essay will explore the reasons for this, as well as some possible solutions.

Our modern style of living is causing huge damage to the planet in a number of ways. For one thing, people want constant comfort in their homes, and this means huge amounts of energy must be generated to provide them with electricity, not to mention the production of goods that make them feel happy. As such, power stations and factories around the world ch urn out huge volumes of emissions that go straight into the atmosphere and cause terrible damage. This is compounded by emissions from cars and airplanes, which are also continually rising as the population grows and people become more mobile. Altogether, these cause global warming by changing the earth’s atmosphere and trapping heat .

The problem needs to be dealt with immediately or else there will be no chance of saving the planet later. Governments around the world need to work together to stamp out toxic emissions from factories, power stations, and transportation. Once lowered, these should also be offset by planting more trees to replace carbon dioxide with oxygen. Doing all this will take a massive effort, but it is important that the world is in agreement. Primarily, the responsibility falls on the shoulders of governments, who will need to impose regulations to stop corporations and individuals from perpetrating more destruction upon the environment .

In conclusion, the earth is dying because of human actions, and the whole world will need to act immediately to reverse the damage.

IELTS Reading and Listening Topic: Weather

I don’t really recommend preparing for IELTS reading and listening in terms of topic because actually the topics here are much wider, particularly for reading. In the reading test, you could be given a passage about almost anything, and for listening the final lecture is pretty much the same. Theoretically, any of those could well relate to weather, but you wouldn’t really be expected to know that much about it. Instead, you’d just be expected to have the basic English skills required to pick apart the grammar and main ideas.

Of course, knowing about the weather is useful and you should definitely study it. Reading and listening to English sources like news articles is always helpful and if these are about weather, it may give you a slightly better chance at IELTS listening and reading. (Pro tip: Try watching the weather forecast in English.)

Important Language for Discussing the Weather

As we have seen, most of the questions that are likely to arise in IELTS relating to the topic of weather are actually quite simple, and you wouldn’t need to know complex terminology for the topic. It would be enough to know words like hot, cold, rain, sun, etc. Of course, you also need to know the noun and adjective forms:

Heat Hot
Cold Cold
Sun Sunny
Rain Rainy
Wind Windy
Fog Foggy

Most that is pretty simple, but if you want to impress the examiner a little more, you can try using slightly more specific language. By this, I mean that you don’t just have to say “rain” or “rainy.” It rains a lot in the UK, so we have many words for this type of weather. 😄

We can use other nouns to describe particular kinds of rain:

We can also use an adjective to modify the word “rain”:

  • Driving rain
  • Pouring rain
  • Torrential rain
  • Freezing rain

essay on favourite weather

We could also use some verbs to talk about how it was raining:

  • The rain battered down around us.
  • It was pouring rain all night.
  • The rain seemed to go right through us.
  • It just sprinkled down for an hour and then stopped.

You see, it is possible to extend your vocabulary a little from “rain” to using a wider range of language. None of those words or phrases is particularly “advanced” but they all offer a chance to go beyond the most basic and obvious term.

When talking about weather, there are different types of word that we can use. I showed you above that we can vary how we talk about rain by using verbs, adjectives, and nouns. Well, that is possible for some types of weather.

We can say “it is + adjective”:

  • It is sunny.
  • It is rainy.

Or “it is a(n) adjective + day”:

  • It is a sunny day.
  • It is a rainy day.

We can also say “it is verb+ing”:

  • It is raining.
  • It is snowing.

Or we can even use “there +noun”:

  • There is snow outside.
  • There will be thunder later.

Some words can be adapted to all forms:

  • It’s raining! (verb)
  • It’s rainy! (adjective)
  • There’s been a lot of rain recently. (noun)

However, others can’t:

  • It’s sunning!
  • It’s sunny!
  • There’s been a lot of sunshine recently.

Here is a PPT I made for my former students. It contains some interesting language about weather. I recommend that you download it and play it on your computer so that you can challenge yourself without seeing the answers first.

I would like to mention here that I have missed out some apparently obvious questions from above. The questions I might have also included were things like, “What’s your favourite season?” Actually, I feel that there is a slight distinction between seasons and weather , and so I will keep this particular article devoted to the latter. If you want to learn how to talk about seasons for IELTS, you can check this link .

It could also be argued that there is some crossover into the topic of climate change and environment because obviously the current phenomenon of global warming is related to the weather. However, I will also leave this aside for now and just focus on more basic weather questions.

Dear Annie: My partner died suddenly without a will and his family took my money and personal papers

First she lost the man she loved, and now she's lost money and other items that his family took from her. Syda Productions - stock.adobe.com

Dear Annie: I met a wonderful man online in 2010. I moved from Maine to Pennsylvania with him in 2012. He has a nice family, which I grew close to, including a daughter and her small family. In September of last year, he passed away from a heart attack and left no will.

His family helped me pack up, and they took most of his stuff. Shortly before I moved, his daughter and her husband showed up unannounced to take more things. The day before, I had sold my car and put the money with my personal papers, plus money for the move, into a security box. They took the box and refused to give it back.

I’ve sought legal help but to no avail. I have been told that this is considered a “domestic” case. This has been a nightmare. It has given me anxiety and loss of sleep. They promised to return my stuff if it was found to be mine. Please, people! Protect your loved ones and make a will! These people live in Pennsylvania, as my partner and I did, but in Pennsylvania our relationship was not considered a common-law marriage because we got together after 2005. -- Heartsick

Dear Heartsick: I am very sorry for your loss. You can only control what you can control, which is your peace of mind. They already took away your physical things; don’t let them take away your peace. The best revenge when someone has wronged you that badly is to live that well! Focus on getting back to taking care of you. Make sleep a priority, and if your anxiety is really bad, seek the help of a trained professional. Meditation, yoga and exercise can all help with managing anxiety.

If the money was for your car, and your partner was not involved with the purchase, then you can take them to small claims court to force them to return that money and all the cash that you put into the security box, plus your personal papers, of course.

Dear Annie: I am part of a family that also has a woman renting a room in our house. I have always been extremely sensitive to smells and scents, but this woman’s odors send me gagging out of the room. My son is also sensitive to the smell.

Now that the weather is getting warmer, the smells are becoming stronger. While she is OK with my occasional request for her to go take a shower, I also don’t want to demand that she shower daily, although that is what is necessary to keep the smells manageable.

How would you suggest I broach this subject without offending her? -- Sensorily Overloaded

Dear Sensorily Overloaded: The best way to deal with the stinky housemate is to be honest, kind but firm. Ask her what she thinks is causing the odor? The worst thing you can do is be passive aggressive about it. Instead, investigate together what could be causing the bad odor. You could even have a laugh about it. You might also help her in other areas of her life. For instance, maybe after she cleans up her act, she will be more willing to find a romantic partner.

Weather Forecast: Updates to heat advisories; critical fire conditions ahead

essay on favourite weather

MISSOULA — Although hot temperatures will continue to impact Western Montana, heat advisories have been changed slightly by the National Weather Service.

Originally, our heat advisories were issued until Friday evening. Now, they have been updated to end tonight around 11 p.m. This change does not mean the heat is going away though.

The hottest temperatures of the week are forecasted today — triple digits for many locations along the Idaho and Montana border.

However, temperatures will drop slightly after today when west winds arrive tomorrow.

With low humidity, consistent high heat, and these incoming winds, fire danger will likely be elevated into the weekend.

Unfortunately, there is no end in sight to this heat. Long-range forecast models hint at below-average precipitation and above-average temperatures for at least the next two weeks.

Continue to take precautions with the heat until we see a big weather pattern change.

Where the Heat Wave Broke Records in California

In many places, a scorching Independence Day led into an even hotter weekend.

A tourist drinking water as he hikes in the dunes.

You probably don’t need me to tell you that it’s been hot in California.

A West Coast heat wave that began last week led to a scorching Independence Day and, for many, an even hotter weekend. A ridge of high pressure over much of the West is trapping hot air — and baking Las Vegas, the Pacific Northwest and large parts of the Golden State.

Though California’s coasts have largely been spared the worst of the heat, several areas near the coast set daily temperature records over the long holiday weekend, meaning some communities had their hottest July 4 (or July 5 or 6) in history. Among at least two dozen places in California that broke daily records last week were San Jose , Fresno , Oakland , Merced , Livermore , San Rafael and Paso Robles.

On Friday and Saturday, when the heat wave peaked in most of the state, at least three cities recorded their highest temperatures for any date.

Up north, temperatures in Redding , the Shasta County seat, soared to 119 degrees, and Ukiah , closer to the coast in Mendocino County, tied its all-time high of 117. In Southern California, Palm Springs hit a never-before-seen high of 124 degrees.

“This is a record-breaking heat wave,” Daniel Swain, a climate scientist with the University of California, Los Angeles, said in an online news conference over the weekend. Some people in the state, he said, had seen “not only the hottest day they’ve ever experienced but also the hottest day that their parents or grandparents ever would have experienced.”

Though records tend to capture attention, the bigger concern is how long the extreme heat lasts.

The heat wave began on Tuesday, and it is expected to persist through this week, with temperatures 15 to 30 degrees above normal, the National Weather Service predicts. That means people without air-conditioning will have had little or no respite for nearly two weeks, not even at night, when temperatures have remained unusually high.

SNYDE | Revelations that late Nobel Laureate Alice Munro protected daughter’s abuser rock literary world

When Andrea Robin Skinner told her mother of the abuse years later, Munro appeared to be more hurt by her husband’s “infidelity” than by the injury to her daughter, Skinner wrote in an essay for the Toronto Star .

Though she left her husband for a few months, Munro ultimately went back to him, remaining by his side until his death in 2013, the same year the short-story writer earned the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Skinner is the youngest child of Munro and first husband Jim Munro, whose divorce generated the joint custody arrangement that had the girl spending summers with her mother and stepfather.

“One night, while she was away, her husband, my stepfather, Gerald Fremlin, climbed into the bed where I was sleeping and sexually assaulted me,” Skinner wrote. “I was 9 years old.”

The effect on her physical health was immediate, Skinner said. The next day dawned with her first-ever migraine, a condition she still lives with. Over the years, Skinner struggled with health issues including bulimia so severe that she had to drop out of an international program during college.

Though Skinner told her father and stepmother about the abuse as soon as she returned home that summer, they did not convey the information to Munro. Her siblings also remained silent.

It was not until Skinner was 25 that she told her mother about the abuse in a letter.

“She reacted exactly as I had feared she would, as if she had learned of an infidelity,” Skinner wrote in the Star. “She said that she had been ‘told too late,’ she loved him too much, and that our misogynistic culture was to blame if I expected her to deny her own needs, sacrifice for her children, and make up for the failings of men.”

When Fremlin found out Munro knew of the abuse, he wrote letters exonerating himself, blaming it on 9-year-old Skinner and calling her a “homewrecker” who had “invaded my bedroom for sexual adventure.”

The only thing he faulted himself for was cheating on his wife.

When Skinner gave birth to twins in 2002 and told Munro she wouldn’t let them near Fremlin, it spelled the end of their mother-daughter relationship. Munro balked and said it would be hard for her to visit, and Skinner cut off contact. They never reconciled.

The estrangement extended to the rest of the family, as Skinner stepped back under the impression that “they’d be relieved not to be living in this double world anymore,” she told the Star.

In 2005 Skinner went to the police, and Fremlin was convicted of indecent assault, with those letters among the evidence. Even then, the silence continued, both inside and outside the family.

Eventually Skinner’s siblings reached out, and they have since reconciled.

lots of people reflexively denying that Alice Munro could have knowingly spent her life with the pedophile who abused her daughter, or rushing to say they never liked her writing — harder to accept the truth that people who make transcendent art are capable of monstrous acts — Michelle Cyca (@michellecyca) July 7, 2024

The literary world, and Munro’s legions of fans, are now squinting under the new light being shined on her work, which is laced with intricacies about dark family secrets, denial and estranged children .

The family wants Munro’s work to be revered, according to the Star, but they also feel her legacy is not complete without the darker side of her personal story being told.

Skinner’s siblings also want to aid in her healing, which is ongoing.
