No. AT&T Cruise Basic and AT&T Cruise Plus packages are for use only on select cruise ships listed at att.com/cruise . We recommend checking the cruise ship list before signing up for one of these packages. If your ship is not on the list of included ships for the Cruise Basic/Cruise Plus packages, it may be included as a qualifying ship for AT&T Cruise SM Day Pass (go to att.com/cruisedpterms for details). To have your cruise ship usage covered by a Cruise package rather than charged at Pay-Per-Use rates, it’s necessary that you choose the corresponding Cruise package for the ship you are on.

Will one AT&T Cruise package cover all the devices on my account?

No. Cruise packages are added on a per-line basis. If you are traveling with multiple wireless devices that you wish to use during your cruise, each device must have its own Cruise package.

How long are the AT&T Cruise packages effective?

Cruise Basic and Cruise Plus packages are effective for 30 days from when they are added and will expire automatically, so there's no need to remove them from your line of service when you return home. Cruise Basic and Cruise Plus one-time charge package charges are not pro-rated for cruises less than 30 days. If you plan to cruise for more than 30 days, you must add an additional cruise package after the initial package has expired. Cruise Day Pass is effective on your line until you let us know to remove it. There is no charge to have the Cruise Day Pass on your line, you will only get charged a daily fee when you use the Cruise Day Pass on a qualifying ship. Cruise Day Pass daily fees are separate from International Day Pass for Business daily fees, and you could be charged for both on the same day if you have used your device (1) At Sea onboard a qualifying ship and (2) in port or on land in an IDPB destination within the same 24-hour period.

Will my AT&T Cruise package cover my cellular usage while on shore?

No, Cruise Packages only cover usage while connected to the cellular network while At Sea on qualifying cruise ships.  Add AT&T International Day Pass for Business ,  AT&T Business Passport or another available package to cover cellular usage while in port or on land. Pay-Per-Use rates will apply to usage in port or on land if you do not add an international roaming package for such usage.

How can I tell when I am connected to a ship’s cellular network and which ship network I am on?

When you are traveling on a ship that qualifies for the Cruise Basic and Cruise Plus package and you have connected to that ship's cellular network, the display on your device will show Cellular at Sea, wmsatsea, 901-18 or NOR-18 . Your usage on that ship will count against the Cruise Basic and Cruise Plus packages or will be charged at Pay-Per-Use rates.  

When you are traveling on a ship that qualifies for the Cruise Day Pass package and you have connected to that ship’s cellular network, the display on your device will show Telenor Maritime, 901-12, or NOR-12 . Your usage on that ship will count against the Cruise Day Pass package or will be charged at Pay-Per-Use rates.  

When connected on a qualifying ship’s cellular network, your usage will always count against your applicable Cruise package or will be charged at Pay-Per-Use rates (if you don’t have a Cruise package).   

Cruise ship cellular service becomes available when the ship is at least 6 nautical miles from land (“At Sea”). Cruise ships turn off their wireless networks at around 6 nautical miles to land, and while in port. When the cruise ship network is off, land-based cellular service is provided by the nearest country. Once you are connected to a land-based carrier, your device will display that carrier's cellular network information. If line is provisioned with AT&T International Day Pass for Business (IDPB), such will be charged an IDPB daily fee for this usage (or Pay-Per-Use rates if you don’t have IDPB or other eligible international roaming package).

What if I use my phone without an AT&T Cruise package, or I’m on a cruise ship not covered by my AT&T Cruise package, or my package expires?

Pay-Per-Use rates apply if you don't purchase a cruise package, if your ship is not included in the Cruise package you have on your line, or when your package expires. Place your device in airplane mode to avoid Pay-Per-Use charges.

What happens if I use more data than the AT&T Cruise Basic or Cruise Plus package data allowance?

Cruise Basic and Cruise Plus data overages incurred are billed at $10/100MB. To avoid unexpected cellular data charges, turn off Data Roaming in your device Settings.

Do I need an AT&T Cruise Basic/Cruise Plus package and an AT&T Cruise Day Pass package at the same time?

No, each cruise ship has only one cellular network. When connected on the ship’s cellular network with the applicable Cruise package, your usage will always count against the applicable Cruise package. If you don’t have the applicable Cruise package for the cruise ship you’re on, you will be charged at Pay-Per-Use rates.

Fincantieri has laid out its 2023-27 business plan that is focused on consolidating its leadership position and laying the foundation for the next industrial cycle driven by digital and green ship, while increasing revenues and net income.

Thus, Fincantieri stated that it will work to consolidate its leadership in cruise, defense and offshore; strengthen its ability respond to geopolitical dynamics through its regional and local presence with 18 construction sites on different continents; and step up its integration efforts through automation, electro-mechanicals, propulsion and generation systems necessary for the transition to digital and green.

The company also confirmed its commitment to five strategic pillars: concentration on its core business segments of cruise, defense and offshore building projects; risk mitigation and cost management; sustainability; lifecycle service offers; and an integrated platform of services and capabilities.

Furthermore, Fincantieri said in a prepared statement that is also plans to invest further in human talent, enabling technologies and supply chain partnerships.

Financial targets call for gross revenue of 7.6 billion euros for 2023 growing to 9.8 billion euros for 2027, and a net profit starting in 2025.

How do I get more data once I use the 0.5 GB allowance?

When you've used your daily 0.5 GB high speed data allowance, cellular data is blocked unless you buy more data. We'll send you a text message giving you the option to buy an additional 0.5 GB high speed data for the rest of your 24-hour Cruise Daily Pass session. The cost of the additional 0.5 GB is $25.

Is the Cruise Daily Pass available on all cruise ships?

Margaritaville at Sea will launch its second ship, the Islander, in June out of the Port of Tampa Bay. Margaritaville's first ship, Paradise, cruises out of the Port of Palm Beach .

Tampa Bay was chosen for the company's second ship since the Port of Palm Beach was too small to accommodate the newest addition.

Margaritaville at Sea Islander inaugural cruise scheduled for June 14

The inaugural cruise for the Islander is scheduled for June 14 out of the Port of Tampa Bay.

The Islander underwent "extensive reimagining" at the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland, before beginning its three-week trip to Florida May 19, according to a Margaritaville at Sea Facebook post.

The custom styling is "reminiscent of the sand, sea and sky" and includes Margaritaville’s signature bedding, pillows and linens.

There are more than 700 Breezy Balcony staterooms, Grand Terrace Suites, "luxurious" Corner Suites, and "ultra-exclusive" Islander Signature Suites.

What is the itinerary for Islander's inaugural cruise out of Tampa Bay?  

Margaritaville at Sea Islander’s inaugural sailing takes place over four nights, featuring a stop in Cozumel, Mexico, and two sea days.  

Christopher Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea, said the purchase of the second ship was to accommodate requests from customers for longer itineraries and new ports of call.

What type of cruises will Margaritaville's Islander offer?

The Islander will offer four- and five-night cruises to Key West and Mexico, with stops in Cozumel and Progreso. 

Coming in 2025 will be six- and seven-night voyages to Belize, Jamaica and Grand Cayman, according to a news release.

Two months after Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed, cruise ships are now taking off from the Port of Baltimore.

A Royal Caribbean ship called Vision of the Seas left from the port on Saturday for a trip to Bermuda. And a Carnival Cruise ship called Pride destined for Greenland and Canada left Baltimore on Sunday.

The two trips are notable as the first cruise ships to leave Baltimore since the port was blocked by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26. The bridge collapsed after being hit by a cargo ship, killing six workers. The Francis Scott Key Bridge services about 30,000 people a day.

"We've been working through this process for the past two months," Jonathan Daniels, the director for the Port of Baltimore said in a video posted to X on May 25 by the port.

One week ago, the port's terminal was the headquarters for the recovery operations for the Francis Scott Key Bridge, Daniels added. The terminal is also a massive area of tourism for Maryland, bringing in 440,000 cruise passengers a year, Daniels told the Baltimore Sun.

The project to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge will take four years and is estimated to cost between $1.7 billion and $1.9 billion, a spokesperson for the Maryland Department of Transportation said in May 2023.

The Very Slow Restart of G.M.’s Cruise Driverless Car Business

An incident that seriously injured a pedestrian in San Francisco led Cruise to take all of its cars off the road. The question now is when they will return.

At a sprawling complex in Warren, Mich., General Motors’ hopes for its driverless car future play out in a virtual reality headset offered to visitors.

In a video, the electric and autonomous car drives itself. Wirelessly connected to traffic lights and the surrounding streets, the car avoids collisions and reduces congestion, part of what G.M. calls its “0-0-0” vision — “zero crashes, zero emission, zero congestion.”

At least, that’s the plan. G.M.’s driverless future looks a lot further away today than it did a year ago, when Cruise, G.M.’s driverless car subsidiary, was deep into an aggressive expansion of its robot taxi services, testing in 15 cities across 10 states.

On Oct. 2, a Cruise driverless car hit and dragged a pedestrian for 20 feet on a San Francisco street, causing severe injuries. Weeks later, the California Department of Motor Vehicles accused Cruise of omitting the dragging from a video of the incident that was initially provided to the agency and suspended the company’s license in the state.

In November, Cruise voluntarily paused all operations across the country after facing widespread criticism that it was neglecting safety as it expanded its driverless taxi service. Cruise also pushed out nine executives, its chief executive stepped down , and the company laid off a quarter of its work force.

Now comes the hard part: Rebuilding a ruined reputation. In recent interviews with The New York Times, the three executives now running Cruise say they are in no rush to get back on the road. After learning the hard way about the risks of moving too fast with a cutting-edge technology, Cruise has slowed its breakneck development to a crawl to avoid another major mishap.

“For a long time before, Cruise was really moving fast and other competitors were not,” said Craig Glidden, who became president and chief administrative officer of Cruise in November. Now, he said, safety is Cruise’s “North Star.”

But going slow means the company risks falling far behind its top rivals. Waymo, a subsidiary of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has had driverless taxis operating in the Phoenix area since 2020 and San Francisco since late 2022 without serious incidents, and it recently expanded to Los Angeles . Zoox , an Amazon subsidiary, has been testing a steering-wheel-free robot taxi in Las Vegas since last June.

“Catching up with Waymo technologically is going to take three to five years at best,” said Alex Roy, a consultant and former executive in the autonomous car industry. He added that it was even harder for Cruise to catch up commercially because Waymo was “generating revenues with trust that Cruise never earned.”

Some industry observers were surprised G.M. didn’t shut down Cruise after its public meltdown late last year. Since acquiring the company in 2016, G.M. has spent over $8 billion on its driverless subsidiary. Cruise lost $3.48 billion last year, and another $519 million over the first three months of 2024.

“I was thinking in the late part of 2023 and into early 2024 that the most likely outcome was that they were going to completely turn off Cruise,” said Reilly Brennan, a partner at Trucks Venture Capital, which invests in the future of transportation.

But after slashing $1 billion from Cruise’s 2024 budget, Mary T. Barra, G.M.’s chief executive, reiterated her commitment to the company during earnings calls. In April, she told investors that Cruise had made “tangible progress,” although G.M. is exploring different options to fund the business, including taking outside investments.

After Cruise’s former chief executive and co-founder Kyle Vogt resigned in November, G.M. appointed two presidents who report to its board: Mo Elshenawy, previously the company’s executive vice president of engineering, and Mr. Glidden, who also serves as G.M.’s general counsel. In February, Cruise hired Steve Kenner, a veteran product safety executive, as chief safety officer.

The three executives all decide on safety decisions, such as when to take the next step in deployment. Those calls, Mr. Kenner said, have to be unanimous.

So far, Cruise has taken baby steps back to the road. In April, it picked Phoenix, the home to its operations center, to be the first city to restart testing with human drivers. On May 13, after a month of driving a handful of vehicles in order to understand local road features, Cruise transitioned into supervised autonomous testing , with two safety drivers per vehicle.

Cruise used to say its robot taxis were, on average, safer than a human driver. But so-called edge cases — incidents like road construction or erratic cyclists that humans can intuitively react to — bedeviled the robot taxis. Mr. Elshenawy said the cars had improved their navigation of construction zones and how they deal with emergency vehicles.

Cruise hopes to offer driverless ride-hailing service in one city by the end of 2024, while operating with safety drivers in fewer than five cities, Mr. Glidden said. That is, if the edge case issue can be improved.

While Mr. Elshenawy’s engineering team works to improve the technology, Mr. Glidden and Mr. Kenner have been traveling across the country to meet with regulators. Cruise has met with local officials and state regulators in Arizona, Texas and California, as well as with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It has also spoken with several cities in the Southeast where it previously tested its fleet.

In California, Cruise has answered questions from state regulators about driverless testing, but it is unclear if or when it could regain a permit. The talent pool in Silicon Valley is essential to Cruise’s business, so executives say they are committed to staying in the state.

Whether Cruise’s cautious approach restores faith in the company among regulators is an open question. Dave Cortese, a California state senator representing Silicon Valley, said the autonomous vehicle industry’s aggressive testing on public roads in the past had “created tension and distrust.”

For the company to win over regulators, it needs a “profound demonstration of transparency” to demonstrate that an incident like Oct. 2 will not happen again, said Mr. Roy, the consultant.

“We may not agree, but I think there are lots of places where we do agree,” said Tilly Chang, executive director of San Francisco County Transportation Authority. “But it is also unclear to us what it would take for them to get reinstated.”

First cruise ship sets sail from Port of Baltimore since Key Bridge collapse: ‘It’s a good day’

The festive occasion marked the first cruise ship to arrive and depart the Port of Baltimore since the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26.

Less than a week prior, the terminal was the headquarters for the Key Bridge Response Unified Command to coordinate recovery operations, Daniels said. They began condensing their workspace down last weekend, started packing up Monday night after the Dali was refloated that morning and were out by Tuesday afternoon.

“While there is still work that needs to be done to be able to complete the salvage operation, this is a wonderful sign that the next milestone is pointing to the fact that business is truly returning to the port,” Daniels said.

Just after 10 a.m., the sound of steel drums echoed in the terminal as it began to fill with passengers eager to board Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas cruise ship for a five-night trip to Bermuda.

Tom Sitzler said he and his group had planned the trip since August to celebrate his partner’s 60th birthday. They live in Washington, D.C., but had a very specific reason to sail out of the Port of Baltimore.

“The whole purpose of the cruise though was to actually cruise out of Baltimore out past Annapolis, because Allen grew up there, the birthday boy, and he wants to see Annapolis from the bay,” Sitzler said.

“I’ve always wanted to cruise down the bay and see all the spots where I grew up,” said Allen Steven, the birthday boy.

Cruises that were already underway or were scheduled in the past two months have been rerouted to the Norfolk Cruise Terminal . Steven said if their trip had been moved to leave from Norfolk, they would have rebooked.

A group of five friends from Harford County also were heading on a cruise to celebrate, donning matching pink hats that said “Friends on the Loose 2024 Friends Trip.”

“We are celebrating a milestone birthday,” said Kathy Schlehr. “We have all attained the age of 70 or beyond.”

“Not yet!” someone chimed in.

The group said they were ecstatic when they found out about a week and a half ago they would be sailing out of the Port of Baltimore. The departure location was one of the reasons they went on the cruise.

The return of cruises benefits the tourism industry in Baltimore and the rest of the state, Daniels said.

More than 440,000 passengers went through the Cruise Maryland Terminal in 2023, he said, and they may also stay in hotels, eat at restaurants and even come back to enjoy the city afterward.

“Many of them are experiencing what Baltimore has to offer for the very first time,” Daniels said.

The 915-foot long vessel with a 25-foot draft got underway after 4 p.m. and used the 400-foot-wide, 50-foot-deep channel that opened Tuesday in the Patapsco River. In addition to a pilot, it was accompanied by two tugboats.

Even though the Unified Command vacated the cruise terminal, operations are still ongoing, just back in their own spaces, said David O’Connell, the Coast Guard’s captain of the port. They coordinate daily on ongoing operations, including salvage work in the main and outside channels as well as coordinating with the Army Corps of Engineers on vessel traffic in the temporary channels.

Saturday, the Army Corps announced a delayed goal of June 8-10 to restore full access to the federal channel. Officials had previously said this would be achieved by the end of May.

“It was great all being together and coordinating operations, but it’s great to be here and see this place in a different light,” O’Connell said. “You see it lively with people that are going on vacation, going through security, the ship is out back. It’s a good day.”
