Why I Chose to Pursue Mechanical Engineering

I chose to study Mechanical Engineering because; they say it is the mother of all engineering. Be it electrical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, without mechanical engineering all of these branches of engineering are useless. Our daily life is almost impossible to live without components that are made up of mechanical part. The pencil we use is been operated by the help of a simple mechanical design. All of these simple mechanical ideas have either made people rich, countries have busted their economy and life have been impacted and made easy for everyone.

Well my reason for choosing to become a mechanical engineer is to be my own boss in the future. Being my own boss in the sense that, I don’t have to work under any one. I want to be the payer of people’s salaries. An example is, two major car manufacturers we know today, Toyota and Mercedes Benz. Both Mercedes Benz and Toyota are owned by families who decided to be self-employed and the same time made people have a better life. Today Toyota and Mercedes Benz are two of the world’s best car makers. Ideas are born out of the desire to change something in life. That idea has made me to come and study mechanical engineering, so that after I acquire all the necessary knowledge I will know the right direction and purpose for my idea. The avenues open to me after becoming a mechanical engineer are endless.

Another reason why I chose to study mechanical engineering is that Robots have always fascinated me. Especially how they work, the complex movement they have got. And the important thing what will happen when we create fully functional android with neuron based brain which has the capability to think just like human. Another thing is AI or Artificial intelligence, I always wanted to know and how it works. I want to know what they feel about their use just like we human have feeling about the person with whom we are working. And how it will help a person who is not able to communicate properly in public or is mentally disabled.

This is because; I will have a great joy helping to meet the needs of people all over the world. Also it will draw investors to my country, which is one of the reasons I have to choose to study in a developing country. India has been a developing country for years, right now she needs people to think out of the box so that, the step towards becoming a developed country will be realized. Another effect of becoming a mechanical engineer is to be rich, so I can afford anything I want in life. I want to be able to give back to the country and society that have raised me. And especially my parents who have sacrificed so many things in their life to make me a successful person.

Since I joined my Elementary science team, my passion for creative problem solving joined with my interest in math and science has continued to inspire and motivate me to pursue an engineering degree. What excites me so much about Engineering is that it encompasses a broad range of disciplines in creative problem solving with math and science. I have developed many skills that will grant me success in the future as a Mechanical Engineer. My passion for creative problem solving, my enthusiasm in math, and my zeal in science has continued to inspire and encourage me to pursue an engineering degree. I loved math and science since I was a kid and had always wanted to pursue my studies in a field that embraces both disciplines. I have always strived to learn more math and science than expected in school and have always been fascinated in learning how technology works. I was not a child who plays with his toy, rather I was a child more interested in disassembling his toy apart to see how it was made. My first endeavor was the disassembling of my toy car, which I got as a birthday gift. When I stripped and reconvened the car, I was fascinated by the small gears and motors contained within it, and I was surprised by the intricacy contained in this outwardly simple object. Then was when my inner engineer awoke and my thirst for more knowledge kindled a passion for engineering. As I grew up, my passion for science and physics increased. Every time I saw a complicated device or machine, my brain always instinctively goes to work thinking about what its mechanics and internal structure will be like. Under the guidance of my Physics teacher, I was fascinated by the complexity of engine, especially the idea of the internal combustion engine and reaction engine. Throughout high school I have been heavily involved in extra-curricular activities. I have dedicated many hours in varsity sports, intramural, clubs and a competitive track team. Participating in these extra-curricular activities taught me valuable skills that can only be learned beyond a classroom. Determination, time management, responsibility, communication and team work are examples of the skills I have developed through my extra-curricular experiences. What could be more powerful than the ability to turn ideas, concepts and theories into realities? To me, being an engineer is not only having a degree, or sharing a passion for solving problems. Being an engineer means accepting our life to improve societies and enhance human progress. The role of an engineer is critical, because an engineer has the duty to push the limits of humanity's practical knowledge. At the point of applying to college, I desire to walk into a bigger world of science and engineering. In my opinion, engineering is not only a broad discipline which I can apply math and physics into real problems, but also an attitude of perseverance and passion. It has been my dreams and aspirations since childhood to be an engineer who can make a difference, which can facilitate human beings and benefit the world and human life in a mechanical way.

Mechanical engineering..why major essay

Okay, I know that title is confusing as hell but I’m basically applying to Purdue for Mechanical engineering in order to go into aerospace in the future. I’ve done some research and it seems easier for Mechanical engineers to get into aerospace than for aerospace engineers to get into any other field. I love aerospace but pursuing ME in college just seems to open a lot more doors to other branches in case aerospace doesn’t work out. I guess the question is, How can I write this essay without looking like I’m indecisive or wishy washy?
